Ed Lazarus is a partner in the trial strategy firm Winning Works as well as the president of Lazarus Strategic Services. As a principal in Winning Works, Lazarus supports attorneys in complex litigation by consulting on jury selection, conducting focus groups and community attitude surveys, developing case themes and openings, and designing and analyzing supplemental jury questionnaires. In addition to trial consulting, Lazarus’ consulting clients include political campaigns, state courts, and bar associations. He has done work for the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America); many state Trial Lawyer Associations; the State Bar Associations of Arizona, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, and Hawaii; the state courts in Arizona, Hawaii, Maryland, and Idaho; specialty bar associations nationally and in nearly each of the 50 states; and individual law firms. Lazarus has also worked with the ABA, the National Center for State Courts, and the National Conference of Bar Presidents. Lazarus also lectures at CLE programs on jury bias, jury selection, and jury persuasion. In 1994, Lazarus worked at the DNC and the White House, coordinating message and message strategy among the White House, the DNC, and the House and Senate Democratic Leadership. Prior to that, Lazarus was a principal in Mellman & Lazarus, a leading Democratic political polling firm. Lazarus has compiled what is likely the largest body of knowledge on public opinion toward the US legal system.

"The most impressive thing about Ed is that you can work on a case for three years and think about how to explain it to a jury and Ed will hear it for an hour and be able to give a better and clearer opening than you ever practiced. His ability to distill "complex cases" into easily digestible bits is amazing. I tried a products case in March, 2009 against a major manufacturer in Federal Court. Ed and I worked on focus groups and the opening. The defense lawyer, with whom I did not get along, complimented me on my opening. They eventually settled -this was the first case they settled during trial in 17 years- and we were allowed to talk to the jury. The jury understood and digested our message."
